Default Power antenna relay

The power antenna relay was disconnected without making sure which way the relay was plugged in is there a way that is supposed to be plugged in or is it okay to plug in either side into the relay and be okay I have a 1990 C4 I don't know if the relay went bad so I ordered a new one but the plug was pulled out on both sides and I don't know which way plugs back in or does it matter

A relay typically has four wires. Two wires are for power and ground and the other two are for the contacts. So you need to determine if that is the case and if so, determine which connector has 12 volts and ground on it. Then you need to determine which pins on the relay are to the coil and which two are to the contacts.
You will just need a simple VOM to do this.
