Default question re: throttle responce

I had a problem yesterday and thought I may have run out of gas, The car has been in the driveway since I bought it a month ago, I had no idea as to how much fuel was in the tank due to the fact that the digital dash is shot! So the first thing I did was add 5 gallons and the most I've done since then has been to start it up every 2 to 3 days and let it run for awhile... well, yesterday I started her up and it did'nt seem to be the same as before. after warming her up I tried to move the car to the garage and inflate the tires but it stalled and at one point it would'nt fire at all so I went and added more fuel and got her started again... So, Today I went to start her again and the throttle reponce was poor. Left alone to idle it did fine, but if I tried to increase the RPM it would labor. at one poit with the pedal slightly depressed it responded like a construction water pump!!! Up and down up and down, I hope someone can point me in the right direction as to what might be the cause and what to do from here... Thanks ahead of time for your help![sm=headbang.gif]

im thinking a fuel delivery problem. the pump may be shot, clogged filter, or maybe a bad injector(s).

check the fuel pressure first, that will tell a lot. check for codes, but sometimes many codes wont show up unless the car has been cruising for a while

You should have 9 - 13 lbs of fuel pressure for a cross fire. Also check your injector pulse to see if both injectors are firing. [8D]

MECH259, I've been meaning to ask about the setting for the fuel regulator I have on my Vette. It is set at 42 pressure; is this too high, or what?

What year is it? LT1 runs around 40 lbs, L98 around 35 lbs. If the regulator is not adjustable and the car is not black smoking at idle, you should be ok. [8D]

Mech259, my Vette is an 87 and it has an adjustable fuel regulator on it, set at 42.

If your engine is a stock L98, specs are around 35 lbs. How does the car run? Is it black smoking any out of the tailpipe? Can you determine your O2 reading? If all your answers are to the "good" side, I wouldn't worry. You might try backing it down 5 - 7 lbs and see how it performs. Might give you a little better gas mileage. [8D]

I don't have any black smoke at any time while running; the only thing I do have is blue smoke at start-up in the morning only, and I think you told me that this was a "valve seal" problem.

Is your fuel economy in line? What kind of gas mileage you get?
