Question Replacing EGR Solenoid - Do I Have to Take the Plenum Off Too?

The EGR solenoid on my 1990 Corvette is broken and I have purchased a replacement. The Factory Service Manual seems to indicate that I have to remove the plenum to pull the old solenoid and install the new one. However, I'm wondering if I can remove and install the solenoid without removing the plenum? It looks tight, but possibly doable? Has anyone ever done this without taking the plenum off the car?

The EGR solenoid or the EGR valve?
The solenoid is bolted to one of the thermo housing bolts and relatively easily accessed with some dexterity.
The EGR valve however requires removal of the plenum

Yes - the solenoid. Thanks for responding. I was able to replace it yesterday without removing the plenum. Unfortunately, I broke the plastic fastener on the electrical connector when removing the connector. The connector plugs into the receptacle but isn't secure. I ordered another connector from Davies Corvette. I think the plastic became fragile due to engine heat, cold days and time.
