Default Shim Kit????

I went to have my '96 vette alignment done and I was told by the mechanic that he was able to improve the alignment but not perfectly. He said I would need a shim kit for the front driver's side and they were available through GM. I went to the dealership and they never heard of a Shim kit for the front. My question is there such a thing as a shim kit for the front, if so, where could I find one?
