trying to install a bypass pulley ????
I'm trying to install a bypass pully in place of the air pump on my 84 coupe and am having one tell of a time trying to figure outhow it installs. I am beginning to wonder if this type will fit an 84. Has anyone have installation info for this style. Thanks.

RE: trying to install a bypass pulley ????
I can't figured out where to attach anything. It seems like no matter how I try to attach it , either the pulley is out of line with the drive belt or the bolts holes for the rest of it do not line up with anything.
Is the main attachment bolted unto the power steering/alternator bracket and the bottom of the bypass pulley bolted to the engine or to the bottom air pump bracket. May have to do the same as you streak23. I possible, can you please give me a closeup of your installation vrooomm and thanks very much. I hate to put the old air pump back, just due to the amount of room it takes up, but if I have to.

RE: trying to install a bypass pulley ????
I found this on the internet for an 85 and it looks like the power steering pump has been moved. In the 84 the power steering pump is right beside (in front) of the alternator. Pretty much where the bypass pulley is.

RE: trying to install a bypass pulley ????
No, the power steering pump hasn't been moved. Your 84 is a different engine. You have a crossfire engine and the one in the pic is the tuned port injection engine. The accessories are in different places. I may be wrong but I don't believe that anyone sells the properair pump idlerpulley for the crossfire. But I have heard of people making a bracket from scratch.

I think hes right. I know that is for the TPI but you can make your own bracket or just basically gut your air pump now. No horsepower is gained but it does dress it up a little more if you get the eliminator pully and saves a little weight.
