Upgrades on '90 Coupe
On another post I requested info regarding louder than stock exhaust system. One reply advised
that Flowmaster was louder than Borla. Anyone have any experience in this area?
Also, considering chip vs throttle body for increased HP. Any advise?
Thank you.

RE: Upgrades on '90 Coupe
If your car is stock or only mildly modded a bigger throttle body is not going to give you much gain if any at all. Your engine is not usingall it is getting already. A custom burned chip/tune will give you little gain but may/will make it run better and you can get it more accustomed to the way YOU want it to run. I am the one that said Flowmasters are louder than Borla, I have a friend that has Flowmasters on his Tahoe and a friend that has Borla on his C - the Tahoe is much louder.
Check out this guys site, he knows a ton about these cars especially the TPI set up: http://temp.corvetteforum.net/c4/vader86/

RE: Upgrades on '90 Coupe
I have never heard (that I am aware of) the Corsa system. Judging by price and name it should
be a great system. I have been extremely happy with the Borla Stinger type system I had put on
about a month ago. It growls great when accellerating but mellows out some at cruising speeds
on hgwy. (I said some, not a lot.) There are/were 2 types of Borlas avail for the C4. One is
the "touring" model and the other is the "Stinger" type cat-back system as originally intended for the
C-5. Again, very happy and hope you will be too.

RE: Upgrades on '90 Coupe
Hey dog, Ya prob. have the exhaust mod by now but if not, here's a short story. I have a 90 coupe. Put on flomasters complete system. Could not ride in the car. Eardrums vibrated with harmonics. Mid-.Amdid well trying to make me happy.Swapped out some pipes, put in crossover pipe and new mufflers. Nothing worked. Long story, nowshort. Each muffler had 2 exhaust openings. Went to a muffler shop. They made2 small circle plates and welded one holeshut in each muffler, up in the muffler so they can not be seen.Still driving it that way but can't recommend Flomasters. j

RE: Upgrades on '90 Coupe
I just put the Magnaflow system on my '90 vert that midamerica sells and I think it sounds awesome, and looks great too! Has a nice low rumble and isn't too loud. Of course I am still running the stock y-pipe with the precats and a stock main cat. My new y-pipe with no precats should be here tomorrow and I think that will make things a bit louder :-). Of course a high flow cat will probably get more sound too. Overall I would recommend the Magnaflow because it sounds much better than stock which is almost silent.
