vette running hot a red light
When I driving normal, the temp stays around 200 to 215. When I stop at a light or I'm in stop and go traffic, the temp starts to move up. If I let the car sit and idle for more than 5 or10 minutes, it will get real close to 260....the hott point. As soon as I pull out onto the street and start moving, the temp goes back down to 200 like it should.
What do you think would cause this? I just got this Vette yesterday. 95 red coupe. So far I love it.
Is there a way to test the fan to make sure they work properly? I don't remember hearing them come on at any time.

Either your fan sensor or the fan relay is bad or you have blown the fuse. Check the fuse first,if the fuse is good locate the sensor, unplug it and jumper it. If that doesn't make the fan run it's probably the relay. Another check you might try would be to turn the AC on,that should cause the fan to run. If that causes it to run then it's about 99% likely that it's the sensor that is bad. I don't have certain knowledge where it might be on a 95,probably in one of the heads, likely the right side but not sure. You need the shop manual that tells you this stuff if you're gonna do your own work,Good Luck!

ps Sorry I didn't mention the fan itself, find it's plug and jumper battery voltage straight to it,if it doesn'rt run then, replace it!
