What do you think about the stock Boss sound system on the 86? What would be a good replacement but be able to keep the clean quality sound of the Boss with out spending $2,000.00?

 

mine sounded ok at best. but the tape player didnt work, and the radio had a weak receiver, so im sure the head unit had a lot to do with the quality of the sound.

get a nice head unit, and some good speakers, and you will be very pleased. i recommend boston acoustics, infinity, or jbl. i personally like the kappa perfects from infinity. hook that with a pheonix gold amp and you will have an amazing sounding system.

 

Ive got two twelves sitting in hte back of my car waiting for installation. The bose crap is getting ripped out and sold.Sound better and $$$.

 

Only 2, 12 in subs are getting installed to replace the boss, or what will be installed for the Highs and Mids? What CD/MP3 player are you going to go with?

 

The stock bose system comes with four speakers. I am ripping out the back two completly and have a box going in hte back with two twelves. The fronts are being ripped out as we speak and being replaced with 2 6 X1/2. On your dash in your 86. There are two fake speaker covers. I went to autozone and found two mini speakers that kind of pump and look like aftermarket front speakers that have pretty good bass in my freinds neon and he just hooked up one and it sounded damn good for ONLY 10.00!!! I am going to put one of those each little fake speaker in the dash. I have the CD player from midamerica. It cost 500.00 dollars but I am pretty much set on ripping it out and selling it. Its only maybe 6 months old. It has a setting for turning your sub woofers on/off and superbase, vocal, natural, powerful settings. I just dont care much for it though. I want a kenwood. I like there products and I want a more stylish teenager one. Theres nothing wrong with the one I got now I just want it to be more chromed out.and colorful....Yes. Two twelves will make your ear drums bleed crranked up pin a vette. Its such a compact place lol. You will definatley need sum ear plugs, ESPECIALLY if you have the glass top. It reverbarates off that thing more than the hard top. I have the solid removable top though and its got the material in it so it wont be so bad in my car....Good luck.
