winter storage
I'm going to get my 1993 vette ready for winter storage. Can anyone tell me the specific procedure for putting it up on jack stands. Is there a particular spot that I sould be placing the jack stands, should I be putting it on the stands so the wheels are just hanging or do they need to be supported, etc. Thanks.

RE: winter storage
Go to www.ecklers.com They have a plastic piece that you park your car in and it keeps the bottom of the tire in air so it wont go flat. I think it would fit ur needs better than a jack. Jacks can give out and cause damage. Good luck. Hope you are getting your WHOLE car ready for storage

You won't go wrong by sticking to the factory recommended jacking points, just in front of the rear & behind the front wheels, for your jackstands. On my 92 they are marked on the rocker panel, I bet they are marked on your car also.
I jack up the rear with the jack just to the front of the jack point on the pinch weld, then put the jackstand toward the rear of the marked jacking point.
WATCH OUT FOR BRAKE AND FUEL PIPES!
After I have both rear jackstands in place, I use the jack from behind the front wheels, going under the frame where it passes under the engine (also a factory recommended jacking point) to lift both of the front wheels at the same time (be carefull, you already have the rear on jackstands, and you are reaching under the car while doing this) then I place the front jackstands at the factory jack points at the front of the rocker panels.
Now all 4 tires are in the air so no flat spots and the weight is off the springs, and you can get under the car for any needed maintanence.
