I would apreciate the information. The other relay and temperature sensor my be all I need to solve this problem. Do you know when the auxillary fan is supossed to start an stop?

So the temp sensor on the drivers side is to activate and stop the main fan and the one on the passenge side is for the gauges? The auxiluary fan probably does not work from a temp sensor but from signals from the AC system?

Thanks again, Jay

The sending unit in the driver side cylinder head is for the temp gauge in the car. It will be tomorrow before I can check the relays when get to my shop.

To many switches, wires, gizmos, and gadgets on these cars. I replace as it breaks. To confusinig though to find everything that goes wrong. If one thing goes wrong a whole line of **** goes wrong. Luckily I found this site. And ill be near mech soon enough. Hopefully I get a discount. I will be there quite frequently with the "black widow".

Did a search re: be cool radiators and your post regarding overheating appeared. Did you install the Be Cool radiator yourself? If so did you use origianal cushions and trim plastic to make it fit? Just would like some input before I start cutting and trimming.

Oh sorry. That part of the post I just copied about the becool radiator. I was adding to the information I found with my own viewpoint. Its a good radiator, I would suggest Dewitts though. Its a direct bolt in. Very good. Just a pointer though, I believe its called the drainplug near the bottom...They are made out of plastic on some models. I believe all the new models are plastic? Anyone correct me if im wrong on that, but mine ended up melting because it got to hot. Keep an eye on that. Goodluck. Also make sure your mixture is 50/50. In the summer, I run a little more water tahn antifreeze. Water has a better cooling effect IMO. Some may disagree, so to each his own.

I dont know if this is good or bad but my fan comes on when ever my vette is running.
Temp always 170 to 181, gets up to 190 when setting at idle on a 90 degree day.

running too Cool for a Hot car

My 84 had the same problem and it was the sensor on the right/passenger side . I had to replace the connector and wire , which I got from Chevy for $20. The senser on the front of the block also had some affect on the fan, making it kind of erratic . After replacing both the proiblem was completely fixed.
