I'm with you on that , it took me a while to connect the dots. I found the rest of the puzzel under the door on my center console there was a list of all the options on my car. Write all the numbers down and match them to the numbers on the web site for your year car good luck.

Is there any way to look at my suspension and such to tell if it is Z51 or base, is something differnt visually between the two? My setup now looks rather basic, so i think thats what it is, but before I order some parts I want to be sure are the parts that much differnt? my VIN or the other numbers are not helping me out too much, and I really dont want to order build sheet

Yeh, the only way I'd know to find that out for sure would be the RPO codes under the centre armrest, that is if the armrest hasn't been replaced on the car. The code you are looking for is Z51, and if it's the original armrest, and that code isn't on the list, then you have the base setup.

Hi, Z51's were only built on coupe bodys with stick shift trans.
Would have oil cooler, PS cooler, bilstien shocks, faster steering, wider wheels.
Look for the option list as wes stated before..........
Z52's were only 87/88 roadster or coupe stick or auto..
I have a Z52 roadster/Auto.
CP...........

If yours is a 1986, the RPO sticker is not under the console. The correct location for a 1986 is inside the drivers side storage compartment behind the seat.

It looks like you have bilstien shocks from your picture. (5,521 out of 35,109 were equipped with bilstien shocks.)

The only way you could get Automatic transmission on a Z51 1986 vette was to special order.

There were no dealer spec built cars with Z51 and automatic combo.

12,821 vettes had Z51, 6,835 were manual 4+3's.

(It seems less than half of the Z51 cars were special order with automatic transmission.)

27,794 were coupes total

7315 were convertibles total
