2003 Ann. convertible
Hey I guess I don't qualify on here yet,but I will next week.I have owned a couple of C-3s in the past and have never lost the love.I am flying from the Texas hill country to Ohio next week to pick upa 2003 Anniversary Convertible.Any hints on howbest to drive it back without damage(i.e. rock chips,bugs,etc....)I'm driving it back for the fun and stopping in Bowling Green at the museum.I believe cars are made to be driven, but at the same time I don't want to mess it up bringing itt back to Texas.Any suggestions?

Congrats on the car. I wouldn't worry about anything on the drive back. I'd check it out carefully before heading off" tire pressures, hoses, belts, etc. Then, just drive it like you would normally: don't follow gravel trucks closely, wash any bugs off at the end of the day, etc. It's already four years old and no doubt has some road wear, and it is meant to be driven, so other than just being careful . . . and enjoy Bowling Green, and the road trip.

Stop at Walmart after you pick it up and buy some Meguair's(sp) Quick detail wax cleaner. It is in a burgandy colored spray bottle and is great for cleaning bugs off each time you stop. Also pick up a bundle of micro-fiber detailling rags.
I would also recommend buying a GM bra for future use. I have one and it fits great and I use it during Love Bug season and whenever we travel. I got mine from Ken Fitchner Chevrolet for about $80.00.
Congrats on the "new" Vette and enjoy the ride. I flew from the Alabama Gulf Coast to Philly, Pa. in 2004 to buy my '02 and we spent 4 days taking a leisurely drive (1280 mile) back home.

I forgot to mention that you need to be sure to join the Corvette Museum while you are there. It is tax deductible and is a great facility and is supported mostly by us Corvette owners.
Being a member gives you free admission to the museum and discounts on anything you buy at their store. They have a very nice selection of Corvette gifts and accessory items.
