which one do you prefer and why ?

- which one gets more stares
- which one gets more compliments
- which one is faster
- which one looks better.

 

They are two very different cars. The BMW is just about as quick in a straight line in road tests in most mags (some people will say it is as or even quicker), but in day to day driving it is decidedly less powerful, but it does not handle or brake nearly as well. On the other hand it has a small back seat. But the 'vette handles better and corners faster (again, fanatics will tell you different, but I've driven them alot - they are closer to Camaro than Corvette) -- net net is the 'vette is much more fun to drive.

The BMW has more "class" (European, upper end market brand) than a Chevy: if you own an M3 people will assume you are sophisticated, have good taste, good breeding, and lots of money -- it you act right it might take hours for a woman to discover you don't. The 'vette also projects an image but very different: you like power and America, and having fun, and if the world doesn't like that, it can kiss your . . . you get the idea.

If you are young I would ask myself two questions:
1) which car do I like best? Buy that.
2) The cars appeal to different types of women, which type do I like more? (I am assuming that, like me, you like all types of women, but some are definately better than others). Hopefully this answer matches your answer to question 1.

 

very good post lee, yeah im 19 years old and im getting started in the real estate market, so im looking at a corvette, m3 or a porsche in the next 6 months or so. i have a 2002 mustang gt right now. the corvette shows class as well considering that they also cost 40k brand new. i think the vette looks better and as of right now i really want a corvette. its a car ive wanted for a while.

 

40k new for a very base model.More like 48-56k; atleast the c6's I have been looking at. Im 22 and was 21 when I got my vette andalso really wanted an m3 at the timebut went a different direction.

 

did you make the right decision with the corvette?? or do you wish you went with the m3?

 

Back in 2001, I was seriously considering the M3 (333 HP), along with the C5. One day, during this time, I sat outside at a local Rubios taco place and started noticing all the 3-series BMWs. I actually saw more of them than I did Hondas, driving down the main road. The M3 looks very similar to a standard 328i or 330i. They are a dime a dozen. When I looked at the C5, I saw a starship vs a perky sedan-like car. When I drove both, I realized that there is no comparison. The C5 torque gobbles up M3s ad spits em out like they were flies.

I NEVER regretted buying my C5 and I'm sure you never will, either.

yes you're very right..most bmw's ( m3, 5 series, 3 series ) look very alike. im going to go with the corvette 99 percent sure. its a beautiful car.

 

I'm driving a2002C5 corvette with over 500 horse power.... Im pretty content.

 

I'm guessing that everyone on corvetteforums.com prefers the vette.

The M3 does, because when guys see an M3 they just assume that there is a hot woman driving it and they want to see her.

The M3, because mostly women drive them and guys use the compliment as a way to start a conversation.

The Vette, of course.

You can't swing a cat up here without hittin' an M series BMW..... I don't think they really stand out much on our roads anymore, like they used to.

A Corvette, on the other hand... if you get to see one to two on a typical outing, you've had a pretty spectacular day. But, to each their own....
