Default A/C Problem FIXED !!!!! HOT / COLD

I posted on 5-11-07 thatI was having a problem with my A/C blowing cold air on passenger side and hot on the drivers side. Here's what I did to correct the problem. !!! I hope I can save someone the headaches I had, here's what I did.I tried pulling the # 27 & 18 fuses to reset the actuators (no luck)Ihad the electronic controller replaced3 months priorbecause of dimdisplay so I knew that was not the problem.Had theInterior & exterior temp sensors tested they checked out good. Hooked my a/c gauges up only to have what I thought was a system operating at normal pressures. 27 psi on the low side 150 on the high side, Ambient temp was 85 degree. Engine was at normal operatingtemp. No Reason to suspect system was low on freon (RIGHT) ??.. After all my silverado haspretty close the same pressures and it blowes 38 degrees. I pulled the battery and battery tray out to inspect the vacuum linesand found everything to be fine. To double check I went a step further and found the purple vacuum line located under the passenger side dashboard. It was connected to a silver canister with a lever that controlled something?? I'am guessing the blend doors. Anyways there was vacuum at the purple line and the silver cannister was working fine. Now What !!!!!! Pulledthe air ducting to my throttle body off. The air filter housing and the cover/brace for the radiator & condensor so I could blow out the dirt. (Before attempting thismake sure you shove a rag into the throttle body first). Iencourage this every 20-30k just for general p/m. Still the same. After pulling battery out I thought that I had reset the computor and all codes still no luck. I cleared the codes from the DIC and am still having the same problem. I'm about 90% surethat the actuators are working fine because I can go from floor settings to defrost mode to split level mode to any settings I prefer it makes no sense to me that their bad ?? At this point I'm about ready to suck up the cost of taking it to the dealer. It's hot here in the valley and the wife is not happy when she's driving and i'm in the cool zone. So I decided to try one last thing before Iturn my problems over to the dealer. Before I disclose to everyone the remendy to (my)problem I must first tell you that without the help of others from this web forum I would have not been able to reslove this problem. This forum has been a life/(wallet) saver for me. After reading a post from a gentlemen from Phonix who had the same problem but had changed both actuators the head unit, relays, temp sensors and a lot of other things to a grand total of about 900.00 dollars he had to try one last thing. He added more FREON. Guess what!!! That fixed his problem. And guess what else ???(THAT SOLVED MY PROBLEM TOO).It doesn't make any sense to me or many friends of mine but it worked for me and hopefully it will do the same for you. P.S. After draining andadding the 1.75lbs of freon to my system I had readings of 34 psi on the low side& 240 psi on the high side at 1000 rpm's with ambient temp about 90 degree with the engine at normal operating temp. Hope this helps.

pretty new to the forums, so i must have missed your previous post....the first thing i woulda suggested was check the amount of R134a in the system...the low pressure you had before seemed a tad low, but the high was way too low. Doesn't make sense that one side would blow cold and not the other...but then again vette's have their gremlins. Glad you got it working good though!

I believe I called that one, based upon what I've read elsewhere.......

What happens on most GM AC systems, is that the air that passes through the evaporator core at the end furthest away from the inlet and outlet pipes is the air that ends up on the left side of the car. So anything that limits the flow of refrigerant throughthe evaporator core, like low refrigerant, can have a much greater effect on the driver side than on the passenger side.
