Factory Bose Stereo power

RE: Factory Bose Stereo power
Maybee it's just an antenna problem, I think the tuner part is the same as my Tahoe and Suburban wich have standard antennas and I have no issues. I just got an '03 Vette and I think the reception sucks but the cd seems to be ok. Any feedback out there? Has any body ran the 8" antennas? Is any body happy with the windshield units?

I don't agree about the factory bose system. You can hardly hear the back two speakers. The monsoon systems in the F-bodys sound much better.I had the rear speakers changed to a nice pair of Boston acoustics and the stereo shop added a 150 watt JL amp with some type of module to cut out all of the distortion from the factory radio. The car sounds much better now. There was nothing wrong with my factory speakers. When you see them you will notice how cheap they are. They must be bose lowest grade of speakers they make. When I save more money I will have rest of the factory system replaced. The upgrade I just had done cost 561.00 installed. The amp was for the back 2 speakers.

you would have to be out of your mind to mess with the stock system, bose is the best, nothing out ther is going to beat it, why would you mess with this? its so loud and clear

IMO the Bose system, is pretty darn good for a factory system, and here how I would compare it to the rest of the fleet...
01 Corvette Coupe w/Bose: great bass at higher levels, nice over all balance but could use a little extra something in the back, small space, so you can hear individual speakers.
01 Lincoln Continental w/Alpine: overall, ok system, at higher volumes, sub in rear deck becomes super boom-ie... otherwise it would sound great. At lower volumes, excellent sound.
98 Cadillac Eldorado w/Bose: eh, is the best way to describe the system, the DSP is silly, makes anything you play sound horrid, as the volume goes up the low end quality gets very boom-ie.
98 Lincoln Mark VIII w/JBL: Best bass at low volumes, 6 channel amp, not sure about the others, but it's always giving you sound from the woofers. Anything higher then 1/2 vol will make you deaf, excellent clarity even when it's so loud you can't be in the car, but past 1/2 the low end is maxed, so you never get any more bass.
Now it's worth saying that I have only Bose speakers in my home, I understand the Bose shortcomings, but for overall sound vs. price, I don't think they can be beat. I've heard Bose systems in cars that really surprised me with how poor they sounded, and Bose system in other cars that sounded incredible. I would have to say, I don't understand why someone would want to replace them in a coupe Vette (I'm not sure how they sound in the convert/zo6) unless you were gonna go with a real street system, big subs etc...
BTW, I'm 99% sure that any GM with a Bose system and a 12 disc stacker will have interchangeable cartridges. A friend of mine just got rid of his 95 Aurora after a connecting rod tried to escape the ‘little star’, and his 12 disc cartridge works perfectly in the Vette.

bose are good, but they have many brands, and the ones in the vettes are mid grade.there is no way bose is beating a good aftermarket system, not buy a long shot.JL,MA,kicker, boston, these are your top of the line for car audio, bose are great house speakers but in my opinion they are not that great for car audio.[]
