Default forced induction/cam

I am planning on installing either a turbo or a supercharger.. but i wanted some input on which one is better for a c5 and how is the reliablity and maintenance on both. Also my friends c5 has a cam on it and i was wondering if anyone can give me some info on how a cam works, the power gains, prices, and where i could have one installed.. thanks

I just know about a supercharger because I have one. The only problem I have really had is that it tends to throw belts(about 2-4 per year). I wouldn't think a turbo would be a good option with a stock bottom end but I could be wrong.

It's a vortech and I don't think I could own a c5 without a supercharger. Basically where I live is 5400 feet above sea level and bandimere which is the 1/4 track is 6000 feet above sea level, stock c5 z06s run mid to high 13's in the 1/4 mile because of the altitude. With the supercharger and some other work I run low 12's on my street tires with a regular c5. Turbos would be fun but only with a built bottom end because with a built bottom end you could boost up pretty high.

Forged internals instead of cast internals. Pistons, rods etc..... Stock vettes are safe around 560 horsepower at the engine including tq around that much as well. Anything over that on stock internals and your asking for trouble.

I am running a Vortech Supercharger on my Z06 and wouldnt have it any other way!

I am trying to figure out the cam scenario as well! I have talked to MTI about a camshaft, and they are recommending the G1 series cam with a 113 Lobe Seperation. Which is suppose to be as radical well...close to...their X1 that you can get being forced fed. You can search MTI X1 on youtube.com and get an idea of how awesome these cams sound on our cars!
