Default Fule tank leak

I have only 3800 miles and have a fule tank leak. Just took it to the dealer and they want $2100 to replace the tank because they need to remove the transmision to do the work. Does this sound right?

With labor and everything else that does sound a little high but dealer rates are usually a bit higher than other repair places.

No, doesnt seem right. Seems like this is a defect. Others have filed complaints on this. I think all they need is nine different people to file a complaint before they open an investigation. Please go to this website and file a complaint. Then you canget a full refund if this is later determined to be a defect!Only takes about 5minutes.http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/ -KLR

agree with KLR on the defect..especially if it's leaking from the cross tube connection on either/both tank(s). the trans does NOT have to come out wether it be manual or auto, but the service manual says it does. os easier on auto to remove trans but i have done it without removal. either way, they will bill you for at least 8 hours labor, the tank, o-rings and so on. still sounds high on cost though. best of luck!

at the shop i used to work at the tank started to leak on the drivers side on the bottom, i guess around the pump housing, because the owner was using race fuel and it ate away the seal

just a thought
