Default leak around gas tank on a c3 (77)

i have a 77 that seems to leak gas sometimes and sometimes not. in other words its not steady. I notice it when the engine has trouble starting. The leak seems to be located where the fuel lines connect to the rubber hoses that connect to the tank. It is not coming from the tank and it drips from the chasis near the gas tank on the passenger side, it comes and goes. Does anyone know if it is possible to check those hoses without dropping the tank? Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

IF, you can get your hand up to the hose connections, try moving the hose, slightly, side to side. Fuel on your hand will denote a leak. Sometimes the hose will develope a crack at the hose clamp and leak occationally. Trouble starting could be a sign of a crack allowing the line to draw in air, disrupting fuel flow.

I haven't had to get to the lines on my '80 L82, but I'm sure the time is commin'. In tight spaces I try to use what I call, my "Third Eye". It's seein' in your mind, what you feel with your fingers. Changin' the lines without droppin' the tank depends on if you can get enough hands and the right tools in to do the work. Stubby scewdrivers, small pliers, and "shorty" wrenches or small cresent wrenches can help alot in tight spaces. Let me know how it goes.
