Talking Headers for a 2005 Coupe automatic

Im hoping you all can help me. I just bought a set of Long Tube headers from OBX Racing. They come with the X pipe that goes all the way back to my corsa exhaust system. Im just realizing that these headers eliminate my Cats. There is a spot in the header to put the sensors in thus bypassing the cats. My delema is this. Is there anything else I need to do other than bolt this system on. I have had people tell me I need to get a new Air Box or Airrad sysyem along with some reprogramming of my computer. Im told if I dont then the car will run hot lose power and blow pistons. Now I dont know what to do.
by the way I have a completly stock 2005 vette thats and automatic.
Your help please

Jim

Jim,

I sent you an email about this but assumed you had a C5. Regardless, I believe the answer is the same. You don't need an aftermarket air intake filter system, although it will open up another 10 horsepower or so. A true cold air intake is best. Many Corvette owners have their cars dyno-tuned after intake and header installs and that will certainly buy you some additional horsepower. However, it is not absolutely necessary.
