Default Headlight motor brass gear repalcement

O.K. My brass gears came in and I replaced them on Memorial Day. I went through the procedures ( naturally I did the passenger side first ) and finally got both done and epoxyed. It wasn't until later that I noticed t hat the driver side assembly has the armature of the motor sticking out slightly of the housing following the linear path of the worm gear and the passenger side did not ( cant even see metal, just plastic ) I have a pic shown as an attachment and you can see at the bottom left corner follow the motor shaft and on the drivers side there is part of the shaft where there is none on the passengers side.

My question is..... Is this normal or should I replace the assembly and crack open the new gear housing and replace it with the brass gear I bought? I went a step further and epoxyed the motor to the plastic housing so it shouldn't go anywhere right? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Robert
