LS7 clutch kit from Summit - good deal?
I've got to replace the clutch on my '04. It makes about 460 rwhp. I found an LS7 clutch kit at Summit for less than $300. It does not include the flywheel. My question is, will the LS7 clutch fit the stock LS1 flywheel?

I answered my own question. I called Scoggin Dickey and turns out you need a different flywheel to use the LS7 clutch. Even so, the OEM clutch and flywheel kit is only $500. For anyone running an NA LS1 or LS6, this is a fantastic deal. The closest aftermarket clutch kits cost around $700. The OEM kit uses a fiber reinforced organic disk, while the aftermarket clutches use kevlar. There are pluses and minuses to each. The kevlar clutch has extreme longevity and will live 2 to 3 times longer than the OEM clutch; however, the OEM clutch is much more tolerant of abuse. If you drive the car every day, particularly in abusive situations like stop and go traffic, the OEM clutch is better in my mind because if it overheats it will recover when it cools. The kevlar unit on the other hand, will last two to three times longer than the OEM clutch - as long as you don't overheat it. Since I drive my car every day and end up in stop and go traffic at least once a week, I went with the LS7 clutch kit. YMMV.
