Default paint finish

I'm trying to remove some mars in the clear coat of my 2002 convertible (Red). The area just behind the trunk lid has a number of surface mars and I've had little success removing them using Scratch X. They are not deep enough to feel, but definitely visible. Looking for an idea or two.

McGuires has some swirl remover that will take care of scratches that are not deep. For deeper scratches, polishing compound will do the trick, but make sure you apply very light pressure. Keep polishing, wiping, and checking in brief spurts.

I'd go with the McGuires first. Good luck!

I was also going to recommend the compound, the lot attendents on my job use it all the time and it does wonders. If that doesn't work you can always have somebody buff it for you. Anytime you can't feel the mark with your nail then it can most likely be buffed out. If you can feel it with your nail that means you went into the clear coat and usually that has to be touched up.

i had a big problem with my red 99 hardtop, the guy that painted my bumper ,wet sanded my car and @#*!ed it all up. i had light scratchs all over the car, i tryed many of the over the counter scratch removers. then i came across zano polish, this stuff is amazing, i started with z5 for all the light mars. i put about 4 coats on it, and it did wonders. i did have some deeper marks that wouldn't go away so i used their fusion polish. this polish took about 80% of the marks off. the car looks awsome in the sun and just as good under floresent light which brings out every blemish in the paint. i know ecklers sells it but they also have their own site. am not a sales rep, just a happy customer.

Are you doing this by hand? If so it will be a little harder. However, I always reach for my Poorboy's Super Swirl Remover polishes. They do a great job in removing scratches. Also, if you are doing it by hand you might want to pick up one of our Pad Handle Kits because then you can use a more abrassive pad for the heavier polish and a lighter pad for the final polish and wax application.

I'm assuming Zano is a brand of product. I'll see if I can find it. Thanks..
