Seeking Opinions of this C5 & Price
Hi… I don’t own a Vette yet, but one that I’ve had my eyes on for a while is becoming available soon. I’d like to get opinions from some of you about the car and the price.
A lady friend of the family has owned several Vettes over the years, strictly as pleasure cars. She’s always promised me first shot at her current car and now she’s finally getting ready to sell. It’s a 1999 Sebring Silver C5 coupe with 39K miles. She’s the original owner and the car has been pampered since new. Only driven for pleasure, never a daily driver. Always garaged and usually covered as well. Interior and exterior are virtually flawless. It’s pretty well equipped with auto trans, 12-disc CD changer, Bose speakers, active handling system, dual zone a/c, memory system, telescoping wheel, both tops. Regularly maintained with all service records.
She’s asking $23K. That price looks like it may be toward the high end for a private party price, but knowing the owner, the history of the car, and how well maintained it is sometimes adds a little value when buying a used vehicle. I haven’t tried to negotiate the price with her yet, so she may come down a little. I was just wondering what you guys thought of the car and the price.
Is there anything in particular that I need to watch out for on the ’99 C5?
Thanks!

First, it sounds like a lovely car. Second, there is value in buying a car with aknown history and good care. The $23K price sounds reasonable to me, given condition, etc., and I doubt she would have trouble getting close to that.

I also agree, that sounds like a good price to me. I have had my Vette since July and I paid $22,700. It is a 1998 6 speed with all the options and it had 22,225 miles on it. Although the car you are looking at has more miles, based on the fact that you know the history of the car more than justifies the price (in my opinion). Good luck.
