Default Question about speedometer sensor

Hi everyone, I dont post on here much but enjoy the numerous wonderful advice on all aspects of the vettes.

My question might be a bit dumb, but while my Service dept was working a service on the car, we got to talking and I told him that on certain days the car ( 98 C5 Automatc) seems a liyyle sluggish between almost the netire rpm range unless you open wot then well a vettes fast. He explained that the Corvettes have speedometer sensors instead of cables and the car actually "learns" your driving. So basically he said that expecially on automatic cars for obvious reasons if you give it some "oomppphh" as you start to drive after warming up the seosor will in some form learn your driving... My question is ... "Was he full of ****?" haha

Also, about may, I threw a rod at 65k blowing a softball size hole on the side of the block. Got a great deal on a Jasper engine shes been acting par-quality but what are the majoir diffrences between the factory and my motor? Can it safely have a mild heads cam package done? I DONT WANT TO DESTROY the block again, it sounded like frieken 2 shotguns blew up under the hood.

Take care guys hope you can lend some advice

I don't know what they put in the "Jasper engine" you bought. Usually aftermarket engines cost more and have better grade components than stock. Without a good parts list or description it is impossible to say what you have. Jasper may have just re-built a standard engine with stock parts. Do you know any details?

I don't think he was BS'ing you about the transmission learning your driving habits. I work for Toyota and our cars do the samething for both the transmission and the braking system. I still haven't figured out how it can pick up and adapt to your driving/braking habits but it does.
