Default A question about a stock C5 (0-60 time)

I hate to be asking all these dumb questions, but motortrend and edmunds doesn't have them (can't seem to find a definitive answer on the mighty intergoogle either) so I figure I'll ask you guys again since I'm trying to make as much of an educated decision before I drop 30k on a car.

So, what are the 0-60 times and the quartermile times for an stock 2003 (and other years if you have the info) vette and an 2003 z06?

Thanks alot again guys.

Don't know the 0-60 times but the 1/4 mile times are around low to mid13's for a stock 2003 C5 and mid to high 12's fora C5 Z06 depending on where you live. If I find the 0-60 times I will post it. If I had to guess it would be in the 4.7- 4.5 range for a stock C5 and 4.2- 4.1 for a C5 Z06.

I found this site, not sure about its credability but the time look nice

http://www.carspecsdirectory.com/Chevrolet.htm

I seem to remember the stock C5 with AT came in at around 4.9sec for 0-60 sec.

This is from supercarx.com for a 2004 Z06. It should be the same for a 2003. I think that every test that I've read has given different numbers. It really depends on the driver and other factors.

2004 Z06:

0-20… 1.3 seconds
0-30… 1.8 seconds
0-40… 2.5 seconds
0-50… 3.5 seconds
0-60… 4.3 seconds
0-70… 5.6 seconds
0-80… 6.8 seconds
0-90… 8.2 seconds
0-100… 9.9 seconds
Street start 5-60… 4.9 seconds

0-100-0:
time... 14.65 seconds

Quarter mile:
ET… 12.40 seconds
MPH… 116.5 mph

Top speed… 171 mph

They also show a 2005 C6 Z51 doing 0-60 in 4.1 with a 1/4 mile time of 12.6.

I've seen similar to that last post
0-60 = 4.3
1320 - 12.40 or 12.60
top speed 175

I've also heard about those "factory freaks"... the cars that are just a little faster than the norm putting down 4.0 0-60 and 12.00 even 11.97 1/4 mile... I believe in factory freaks but not sure if i buy he sub 12.00.

Seems very unlikely, sub 12 second 1/4 miles would require more than the typical "extraordinarily luckY' engine variation will produce.

It sounds like chevy are missing out on some extra cash! In the commercial a/c world customers pay a premium for a/c that come in low on weight. Chevy could rolling road all vehicles to find the freaks - lol.

I think word would quickly get out it was not worth paying for. The difference in a 1% stand out car (best in 100) and an average is only about .1-.2 second in the quarter, not enough to pay much extra for, and moreoever, there is some evidence that cars that are the fastest when new are not fastest later on - most cars are about .1-.2 second faster when worn in well (say at 20,000 miles). A lot of engineers think the "freaks" are simply cars where the parts fit so well when new that they need less wear in before reaching optimum, so 20,000 miles down the road there is no difference. I am one of those engineers, by the way.
