Default Rear end problems?????

Just bought a used 03 C5 (20k) noticed some rear end noise. Checked the history and this vehicle had a rear end changed with very low mileage.

Is this a common theme?
Whats a rear-end cost?
Did the factory up-date or beef- up the fixes?

I wouldn't think it's a common thing.

Default RE: Rear end problems?????

Many C5 owners swapped their OEM rear end for 4.10s or 3.90s. It is rare for an OEM rear end to fail prematurely UNLESS the original owner did not follow the correct break-in procedure. For the first 500 miles, speeds were to be kept at 55 or lower (+ my theory that rpms should be kept under 3000 or so, during that time.)

Find out what is wrong; you may luck-out and require a minor repair.
