Default silver Z06 in Santa Cruz, Ca.?

Hello, Im new to this forum. I joined for two reasons. The Corvette is my all-time favorite machine, and I'm seriously considering buying one as my weekender. The other reason is because I am a LS2 owner (GTO and I love it). I hope no one takes any offense to this post, because I know that an 02 Z06 and up, and the 05's and up bests the GTO stock for stock. Anything other than that and you need mods to beat the 05 and up Goats. I chose the GTO because I have a daughter, and you don't see many of them.

As to the subject of this post, I had an encounter with a silver Z06 (03 0r 04) the wee hours of Sunday morning, about 12:30 am on the 18th. I was doing 56mph on the 17 in Santa Cruz, and this idiot pulls behind me, tailgates me, then gets on the side of me, revving his nice sounding engine, taunts me and rockets off. I didn't bite, but he had the nerve to slow down as if to say, "dinner is served, come and get it!" He obviously wasn't going to let up unless I accepted his challange. I knew a straight away was coming, so I accellerated to catch up slowly. I did the same thing to him, pulled to the side of him, I revved, he revved, he took off first, and I smoked him. He didn't give up. He kept trying, three more times to be exact. Needless to say, I kept smoking him. No, I'm not stock, and he soon realized that by the distance and rate of speed in which I slaughtered him by. I know i'm not the fastest, and there's many of you who will read this post and say "you arrogant *****, my vette will kick your GTO's ***!" I don't doubt it, and i'm not here to brag. I admire the vettes more than I do my damn father. This message is to the dick in Santa Cruz who dared run up on a GTO so arrogantly as to say get a real muscle car. I just want to know if he's man enough to admit he got beat. And to tell him to get more upgrades other than exhaust before he runs up on someone just because he's got a Z06!

It is fun to drive a bit of a sleeper, isn't it, and surprise people like that. As to the ZO6 you ran, inote that are some clones out there, hardtop coupes at 350 HP with the glue on fake scopes and badges (Ecklers sells them among others, and a cheap set of look-alike wheels, that will fool just about anyone).** But if you have done some real mods it should not matter anyway.

** I know because I ran one in my Porsche -- almost beat it -- and I know it was a fake because it clearly had an automatic trans!!!

sorry I didn't reply sooner. I'm on vacation and my pda isn't getting a good signal at the hotel in Santa Cruz. as for my mods, I don't know my total crank or rwhp, but here's what I have....JBA CA smog legal headers, complete borla exhaust system with 5" tips, dual electronic exhaust cutouts, k&n intake, functional banshee ram-air hood, diablosport predator III power programmer. I switch my hood back and forth because the banshee hood needs to be painted along with my Rhys Millen body kit (rmrproducts.com to view body kit). I didn't have my hood on when I ran the Z06 and my exhaust cutouts are not installed yet. the hood is dynoed at giving 25 rwhp with stock exhaust and k&n intake. the cutouts dynoed at 14 rwhp & 14 fp of torque. I'm not sure on the borla exhaust, but I feel a big difference in throttle response over the stock AND the flowmasters the Borla replaced. the JBA headers dyno at 30 rwhp with 34 fp of torque, the k&n intake dyno at 18.5 rwhp gain and the programmer is reported by Diablosport to give a 12% gain to total hp on LS2 engines. I haven't dynoed yet, but will post soon as its done. I suspect I have 400-420 to the wheels minimum...easy and maybe a max of 460 rwhp using very conservative math.
