Default Tire pressure sensor question

I have a 97 Vette, and I recently purchased a nice set of factory wheels/tires that came off a 01 Vette. The owner of the 2001 Vette took the sensors off his wheels, and had them installed on his after market wheels. It is my understanding that the sensors that came on the 97 and 01 Vette are different, and are mounted in different places. If I purchase a set of 01 sensors, do you think the computer on my 97 will work properly? I am worried that the sensors use different frequencies, etc.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Default RE: Tire pressure sensor question

I have a 97 as well. I was recently reading up on tire sensors as I seem to be getting a false reading from one of my tires . The DIC says the "tire is flat", when the pressure is fine. Any how I was sort of thinking it may be a battery in the sensor. I went looking for a replacement part & it looks like the sensors are different in the 97 to 2000 from the 2001 to 2004 model years. The sensors in the 97's are more expensive & look bigger. So I would say that the 2001 would not work in the 97. Just a guess, however why would they be different if they worked in all C5 model years.
