Default Tuning Question

Hi all....I've heard of LS1 Edit before to make adjustments in the programming...just wondering what you all suggest. I have a local shop that uses something similar to that (don't remember the name of the software) and they charge so much for the rights per VIN. I hesitate to pay the $$$ as since I am in the Air Force, I will be moving soon and don't want to pay another shop when I move to do the same thing. My thinking was to buy the software myself just for my VIN so I can take it with me and allow anybody that knows what they are doing to do the tuning in future locations. Would all shops charge for this same thing? Would I be better off personally owning the software or would a place charge the same no matter what? What are your thoughts?

I have a 2002 Z06....see my signature below as to what I've done.....think this is a bad idea to pay the $500 or whatever it costs to have it on my own laptop...so I can continue to make updates to my car once I move from here?

If you think you know how to make the changes to the program go ahead and pay and buy the software.

I won't be doing it myself....I want a shop here in town to tune it for me...and then when I move be able to take the ability with me and not have to pay multiple shops the rights for my VIN. Do you recommend LS1 edit for my car? Any idea where to get it for a good price? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yeah, LS1 edit is good. A lot of the better shops have an unrestricted license though, so you have to buy no program or license to use it.

Go figure....my luck....yea the shop here locally doesn't have the unrestricted license...maybe I'll wait until I move....most likely to Wichita, KS...if you happen to know of any good shops there, let me know!
