2004 convertible with factory 12 disk CD player. After playing any CD 5-10 minutes, I start getting "white noise" through the CD player. Within a few minutes it gets to the point wher I just have to switch back to the radio because the white noise is almost as loud as the music! All CD's play perfectly from the single disk player built-in to the radio. The white noise sounds like listening to a very distant FM station right on the fringe of loosing it completely.
I tried CD lens cleaner but this does no good. I removed the player thinking it might need some internal cleaning but there's not a speck of dust or dirt in it, this thing is still almost brand new!
I check the connector and everything looks good. It's as though it's working through a very poor FM transmitter but I know it's hard wired.
Any ideas on where to llok next would be appreciated.
