Default windshield scratches

It may sound crazy BUT can anyone tell me if the windshield on c5 is soft or easy to scratch when cleaning. The 04 I just bought has a bad film inside and out. I've cleaned it with everything from windex to 409 and some things in between. I rubbed the outside with a soaking wet pad and I think I've scratched it. Any comments thanks

I do know that the glass pits very easily. You might want to see if your insurance company will pay to have the glass professionally buffed. Eventually, you can have the whole windshield replaced, even if because of the millions of pits, only.

Vinyl gives off vapors when it cooks. You'll see a film on the inside of the windshield (and your lungs).

Rain-X is the only thing I know of for pitting outside. It dries to a polymer, which 'fills' the microscopic pitting, and stops/reduces light from diffracting through the glass.

Best analogies: oil used on slides for biology specimens conducts light better; a piece of glass in a water-filled glass jug is invisible; glass-bottom tour boats.
