98 C5 - Problem with Windshield wipers
I have a problem with my 98 C5 - The winshield wipers come on when I turn my steering wheel to the left ..the wipers do not come back to the rest position . seems like there is short in the steering column.....any suggestions on how to fix ..
it sounds as though one of the wires for the wiper switch has seemingly gotten ground inside the steering column, perhaps from a bare wire or something of the sort. are you, or is someone you know, good with wiring/electronics? it would seem to me that when youre turning the wheel far, its getting a wire pinned agaisnt something else that is triggering it, or it coud simply be an issue with the switch.
Sandy Didnt i see this post in the general tech area as well [sm=laughat.gif] thats ok here is what i posted there.
Sandy it is probably a faulty wiper switch, there is an easy way to check to make sure. remove the knee panel, and the shroud from around the steering column ( so that you can get to the plug that connects to your wiper switch). turn on the ignition and then the wiper, turn them off so they are stuck in the non parked position, now with the power still on disconnect the plug to the wiper switch, if the blades park. most definitely the wiper switch. Have fun
