"Supplier" and "Employee" Pricing
So far I've only learned that employee pricing is true net cost to the dealer. However, the factory does compensate the dealer for the sale. I am looking for the best possible pricing, but certainly don't expect any dealer to take a "loss". If I could get the best deal locally, certainly would send my buddies to that person, be a good salesperson for them and give them all of my service work for my other 2 Chevy products.
I'm just trying to translate "employee pricing" as it relates to MSRP. From the ads, it appears to be approx $6500 below MSRP, but don't know if there are other hidden "gotcha's".
Thanks for any info,
A very excited Corvette shopper.

Employee pricing is difficult to compare because there are various benefits beyond price. When a dealer says they are giving you employee pricing they mean they have a discount close to what employees get. But real employees, such as my youngest son (a service manager at a Ford dealer) get about 15% off new cars plus special financing and delivery terms and other benefits that really are an advantage. They often get a better deal on used cars, both because they get discounts there (this varies with the dealer they work at) and they get the pick of the crop -- my son picked up a "used" Ranger with 2400 miles on it at such a good price I am sure he could have turned it an hour later for a $4000 profit.
In my opinion employee pricing is a well-deserved perk and particularly good because it extends to family, applies to almost all brands manufactured by the company, and to all dealerships. But it does not apply to all cars: in particular my son's discount does not apply to the Ford GT -- otherwise I would own one by now. On the other hand, it does apply to all Aston Martins (Ford owns Aston Martin) so my next car is likely to be an Aston: the Aston V8 may not be any better than a Porsche Carrera S4, but at $20,000 off, it sure is! Also the special financing and delivery do not apply either.
