C6 Reliability
I'm debating trading in my 2006 Porsche Cayman S for a 2008 C6 Corvette. My concern is the overall reliability. Consumer Reports doesn't give the vette high marks and my2002 C5 had numerous issues.
I figure you guys would be the right bunch to ask.
Thanks in adavnce for your input!

Mine has been great! One year old this month. I have a manual trans with the Z51 package. Not one problem yet. My prior car was a 350Z. I had a lot of problems with that car.
Consumer reports last year rated the Prius as the highest overall for owner satisfaction based on the question woul you buy that car again. The C6 was #2. You are correct that the reliabillity ratings aren't great though.

My C6 is also a year old this month, no problems but then it has only covered 9,400 miles. Am almost afraid to drive it wondering what is going to break that should not - based on not so very good realiability ratings. Why does a car that costs soooooo much have so many problems? At least it is a beautiful car and a thrill to drive !!!!
What few people realize is that it doesn't take many problems to get a "poor" reliability rating from CR. The average for a nearly new car is less than 20 problems per 100 cars. If a model has 30+ problems per 100, it gets the black dot.
The difference between "average" and "much worse than average": often less than one reported problem for every ten vehicles.
Think about it.
I've got a thread somewhere here about my own reliability research. What I do different than CR:
--prompt updates four times a year
--post the actual repair rates--so the size of the differences isn't hidden
Latest results here:
TrueDelta Vehicle Reliability Survey results
The Corvette isn't in the survey yet. Most recent model years are about half way to the minimum sample size.

I have had my C6for a few months now and although a short time,I can tell you that so far there have been zero issues. It seems to me, from reading posts from all over the web that the C6 is to date the most reliable of all Corvette generations. If you are reading reliability reports from say Consumer Reports, take them with a grain of salt. Just my opinoon but I believe that source is an extremely biased pos...
At any rate, I bought mine to drive it and the reliability reports had little to do with my purchase.
Drive it like ya stole it...
Cheers
