Default C6 speakers

Anyone know the sizes of all the c6factory speakers ? I am ripping it all out
and putting in an AVIC Z-1 and want to purchase the speakers prior
to pulling the door panels.

If you have replaced speakers already, any tips would be appreciated !

Thanks !

I am so happy somebody is doing this too!!! I have been BS'in around; and would like to do it after the first of the New Year- Can you still use your factory door chimes, etc- If you LQQK on crutchfield; there is an additional adapter ($100) necessary for this unit to function properly in the Vette!?!

Please post pictures; and any installation tips you can provide!!! Any idea which speakers you want to put in? I know I had Alpine Type R (or S?) in my Mustang (boooo!!) before I sold it for the Vette (yay!!).... and they were excellent!!!

Happy Holidays.

in my 07 bose ,there is a 10" flat amped sub and 3.5 " mid in ea. door, 3.5 " center dash, and i thimk 6" in back, i think it sounds like *** ! im going to add tweets to the a-pilers and build a custom fiberglass box for 2 -10" subs in the back w/ a 600 watt amp. and it should sound way better. after X-mas rush at the shop i will start the project!

Yeah, the Bose system is just horrible in my 05 convertible.

I bought a 2007 Denali back in May this year, and you wouldn't believe how incredible that system sounds. Just added an Ipod adapter to the factory system, and I am all set now (with the exception of my intention to add a subwoofer in addition to the factory one).

I plan on pulling the Vette apart starting this weekend, weather in Ohio is at the point where I don't want to drive it until spring. I will take plenty of pics and share anything I find with everyone. I have been in car audio for almost 20 years now ( mostly as a hobby ), but built some incredible systems in my time.

My selection in speakers will depend on the efficiency, space requirements, and just the overall sound. I have used Polk in the past and they are pretty good, but I won't rule out anything just yet. I am going to buy the adapters to retain chime and OnStar for sure. The XM antenna on the trunk lid will be used and will integrate with the Pioneer Avic Z-1 I am installing, so I don't have to put another antenna on it thank goodness - just the GPS sensor which I can hide on the underside of the trunk lid - fiberglass doesn't block the signal like steel does ( or so I am told ! )

Merry Christmas to everyone, talk to you soon ! ( Or I mean, Happy Holidays to the PC crowd, but it's Christmas to me...)

Memphis has my vote. Got that in my Camaro and I love them, might want to check them out.

I am interested in doing the same thing, but was concerned about the finished look of the head unitin dash. I would love to see pictures ofyour project when completed. Also I would love to find out which speakers you went with and how it all turned out. Any info, recommendations or dos and don'ts would be perfect. Thanks and good luck.

I have started this project already by removing the door panels, center console to pull the stock equipment. I have taken many photos from the start, and am planning on posting a start to finish message so everyone can learn from my experience. Right now I am waiting for my speakers to arrive. I went with Polk Audio components for the doors and rear of my 2005 convertible.

So far so good, only broke 1 clip pulling the door panels off, but superglue took care of that.

I still have to run the power cable from the battery through the firewall to get it back to the amps.

Stay tuned, I will hopefully be done with this project in 2 weeks.
