C6 ZO6 Question Help!!!
recently just purchased a new black Z06 i was wondering i only have 1000km on the car, from the factory do they put some sort of restriction in the computer until it is fully broken in. Basically what i mean is, does the car have its full power right from the get go! or do they de fuel it when you get on it for the break in period. Thanks guys!
I don't know of any restrictions in the engine computer based on mileage, as factory-built engines are so well machined that they are not really tight to the point they need significant wear-in anymore. So I would assume that the engine is at full power potential from day one. Typically though, if you dyno a car with, say, only 500 miles on it, and then again at 3500 miles, you see a gain of a few HP (say 10 in a factory car, or up to 25 in hand-built engines, which are usually tighter and need more wear in).
One way to find out is to take the car and have it dynoed. Stock, ZO6s are putting down about 445-450 at the rear wheels.
However, more and more cars do have a computerized restriction on HP output when the engine is not completely warmed up (i.e., all new BMWs, newer Porsche) until things get to full operating temp. It is concievable that the new ZO6 has this, although I am not sure, so if you are not letting it get up to 180+ degrees water temp, it may be operating on only partial power.
