I replaced my stock wheels with after market chrome and purchased new runflats andsensors too. They came from West Coast Corvettes mounted and ready to install. Now, the tire pressure sensors don't always work. At first, all for worked fine, then none worked after about 20 miles. Now after about 100 miles, only 3 of the four work. How do I reset the all of the sensors to allow them to be correctly read??

 

I heard on the saturday car call-in radio talk show, that if you rotate your tires, your computer had to be re-programmed, for this very problem. HUH???

I don't see how the computer identifies a different tire's sensor, that has the same air pressure. Even when the SAME sensor is used, just in a different wheel.

This means that the computer not only reads 4 different sensors by some sort of ID, but also 4 different corners of the vehicle.

Come after you for neglect? Not if you keep tire pressure correct . . . if you don't, then you are neglectful, particularly when you have a sensor system to remind you.

 

You're not understandin' my response to the OP...

You rotate your tires, with good pressure, or get new rims, with the same rubber, or new ones, and you got a LTPSW, which is incorrect, since the computer isn't re-programmed for the swap. You take (or make) a hit, you got data at the time of the hit, and your wallet goes away.

 

Oh -- makes for a good urban legend, but, no . . . courts give little credence to monitoring equpment unless it is certified accurate enough for such purposes and a system that could be tricked by rotating tires, or might not be hardened to withstand an impact without damage, does not qualify.

And by the way, its a moot point, because one should not rotate tires on a vette since they are: different sizes front to back, and direction so you can't (shouldn't unless you are really dumb) rotate them side to side.

 

Courts give creedence to $$$.

Since a burgler can sue you for havin' an unsafe home to break into, then you WILL be sued by someone who hit you, whose lawyer finds out that your LTPSW was lit up. In fact, I'm sure it has already happened. Take that to the bank there, M Willis.

 

Believe what you want. I live in the real world. I've been in court dozens of times and seen how it really works (expert witness). The world is bizarre, but not irrational.
