Default 2007 Z06 convertable?

Is there any talk of a convertable Z06 for 2007 or 2008?

Thanks,

Joe

Not that I have heard, and probably for the same reasons there was not a convertible ZO6 in the C5 version - weight and performance. It is more difficult to maintain the structural integrity and suepnsion post rigidity you need in a convertible -- it can be done but in a maximum performance car it is lighter and stronger to go with a top on the car.

Regardless, given that GM is selling all the ZO6s they can make as coupes , they hardly seem to have a motive to come out with another model.

Exactly, it would defeat the whole purpose of the Z06 to cut the top off. It would take all the nice cornering ability out of the car if they were to do that.

The company Tbryne converted a regular C6 convertabile to look like a Z06 that came out extremely well here is the article and the photos:
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The last thread took you through the body of this car being disassembled, painted and then reassembled along with some pictures of the completed pics. Here is the complete write-up along with some new images -

GM's Corvette will turn heads where ever it goes. They produced 37,372 examples of this vehicle for 2005 (26,728 coupes and 10,644 convertibles). This one is much different than the rest! The nose, front fenders and rear quarters were replaced with parts from a 2006 C6 Z06. The rear quarters weren't an easy bolt-on. The coupe's quarters are different than the convertible's so they had to be modified to fit on this car. The holes on the carbon fiber front fenders were filled so there are no emblems on them (export cars have lights there). The alignment holes on the nose were also filled so the Corvette emblem isn't used at the scoop opening. And an RK Sport hood is required to clear the supercharger. Everything was painted off of the car and then reassembled. This way there was no chance of any over spray.

Chrome 18x9.5" Z06 replica wheels wrapped with 275/35/18 Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires reside up front. There are 19x12 inches rolling on 325/30/19 Goodyears in the rear. The 2005+ Corvettes don't have spare tires so they use what is referred to as Extended Mobility Tires (EMT). They can be drive up to 50 miles at 50 mph after a loss of air pressure. Z06 brakes replaced the stock C6 components and fill the inside of the wheels very nicely. They use monoblock six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers. Each piston utilizes its own pad. The opposing pistons operate in pairs, applying brake pressure equally to each side of the rotor. The extra-large 14-inch front rotors and 13.4-inch rears are vented and cross-drilled. Brake cooling ducts are capable of moving three times the amount of cooling air compared to the previous-generation Z06.

Vette Essentials helped make the interior stand out as much as the exterior of this car. The seats were sent to them so they could produce a set of custom black/yellow leather seat covers. The quality of the leather used is better than what comes in the Corvette. More along the line of Cadillac quality. They also produced a matching steering wheel, shift ****, shifter boot, brake lever, brake lever boot and center console lid. The plastic center console and "pods" on each side of the cluster were replaced with parts that were painted silver.

All show and no go is no fun so a polished Magnuson supercharger provides plenty of entertainment when the throttle meets the floor! You actually don't have to press it that far to find yourself smiling from ear to ear. Rolling into it 1/2 way in first or second gear can make those big Goodyears scream in agony as they paint "I was here marks" on the road. This system is seeing 6psi of boost between 2000 and 2500 RPMs and then carries that up to redline. That is power you can feel during normal day to day driving. 1 7/8" Dynatech long tube headers help the exhaust escape after the combustion process is complete. These two upgrades allow the car to produce just under 500 rear wheel horsepower (about 575 at the flywheel).

The end result of this project is a car that is very unique. Some might not notice the changes because they look factory. Sharp eye observers will say "they don't make a Z06 convertible". That is correct, but this is pretty much what it would look like if they did...

The company Caravaggio also makes a targa top conversion for the Z06, here is a link to one that is being sold: http://www.corvettemike.com/showroom/?cf=212
