I hope they did a better job with AFM on the Corvette that they did on the GMT900 Tahoes back in 2007. That fiasco contributed to the failure of a lot of V8s. What's PTM?.

Nice video. Does the real car actually have the tube headers shown on the stand? I've seen a lot of pics but the bracing and shielding blocks the view. Could you tell if the extra sprocket and chain drive one of the many oil scavenging pumps?

Also does the inlet trim come in only black or carbon fiber and not body color?

If you haven't already, you might check out the midenginecorvette forum here. Lot of good info there.

Edit: Found out that the headers are there and concealed by the shielding.

Thanks, I appreciate that. I am already on the midenginecorvetteforum. The inlet trim has an option for body color and that will actually be shown in the next video I put out (there was a long beach red car with long beach red side skirts, air duct trim, and vent trim in the back bumper) so you'll see it then if you stay tuned!

73shark 09-03-2019 12:43 AM

Will do. Good to hear on the trim cuz I think I would prefer body color.

jayno20 11-30-2019 12:16 PM

Change your differential fluid in your C7 Corvette.

73shark 11-30-2019 06:51 PM

The dark, gooey graphite looking substance that you were wiping off of the drain and fill plugs was microscopic particles of steel. You will see this most commonly on magnetic drain plugs for engines but obviously can also occur in differentials. It's my opinion that this generally occurs on new engines, transmissions, and differentials as the metal parts wear in to each other.

Thank you. I wasn't sure exactly what it was, but I knew I didn't want it there!

73shark 11-30-2019 10:09 PM

Don't think it would hurt anything as long as the magnet was pulling out of the oil. What you drained out sort of looked like it might have had some water in but was watching on my phone so hard to tell.

Here's what I use to keep whatever fluid I'm draining off of everything. It's lead encapsulated in Buna-N rubber.
It's flexible and can be shaped however you want it.

I don't think the fluid was hurting anything necessarily, but it's cheap/easy insurance so I figured why not. That's quite an interesting gadget! Thanks for sharing.
