Default Vibration around 2000 RPM and OEM parts

I have a 2015 C7. Weird issue when it was new. The transmission smoked at about 60 miles. Chevy stepped up and air freighted a new transmission and gave me a brand-new pickup to drive. Can't complain about their response at all. Well after about 2 years it developed a vibration around 2000 RPM. I took it to a dealer multiple times before they agreed it was there and finally dug into it. It appeared that when the transmission was replaced, they didn't torque the bolts between the drive shaft and transmission, and they came loose, and the vibration was the splines chattering.

Well, it's happening again. I have about 25,000 miles on it. Has anyone experienced this? They torqued them about 3 years ago and they should be fine, assuming they did it properly. Since they were fixing another mistake, I'd hope they did it correctly. Has anyone seen this in their Vette? I'm not 100% sure this is why it's vibrating again but am tempted to dig into it myself. My suspicion is that the second service center didn't replace the splines and they could have been damaged, causing it to happen again, so my trust in the service centers is a bit low. I'm very versed in turning wrenches, so that's not a problem. Has anyone ever dug into this themselves that may have some advice on gottcha's before I put it up on jack stands?

This worries me, if the drive shaft is truly loose, who knows what could happen!!!

I have one more question. I moved into a new house and the 3rd garage space is pretty small but gives my Vette protection since it's the furthest from the house. No one has reason to be over there. Well, I had something sitting near the door and forgot about it. I backed out and it got under the car and damaged the small rubber or plastic part that is just outside of the rubber part that goes across the front, not sure what it's called, maybe air dam... So, I'm trying to find a place to purchase OEM replacement parts. I don't have a dealer near me, and I'd like to find a place to purchase online if possible. Anyone know of a place to find OEM parts online. I've not been able to find any with a couple hours of searching.

Thanks...

Welcome to the forum. I just googled GM parts online and got six different websites.
Sorry but I can't help you with the vibration problem. Did the C7s still have a torque tube between the engine and the transmission?

Thanks. Not sure what they called it, but the drive shaft runs at engine RPM, the transmission is in the back.

I found a couple web sites that showed parts breakdowns, but nothing that showed the spoiler or side parts in the front. Not sure why, but seemed to show pretty much everything else. I'll do some more digging. Seems like they would be there since they are OEM. I did find some aftermarket spoilers, just not the OEM.

I was just looking for the middle section of the front air dam and found it at Ecklers corvette and I’m sure the other guys, Mid America corvette, Corvette Central etc … will have it. Is your transmission automatic or manual ? I have an automatic and haven’t had any issues ( knock on wood ) and to answer 73sharks question- yes the C7 has the torque tube

And a torque tube connects the engine to the transaxle and has the drive shaft inside of it. Not sure but I would guess that obviates the need for U-joints.

The front air dam/spoiler is in three pieces, center, left and right side , Mid America motorworks has them. They should be replaced because they help with cooling and don’t feel bad , it won’t be the last time you replace them. Ground clearance isn’t very much and your not the only person that has damage them

Check out a company called Scrape Armor. I believe their system retails for $350.

Just checked out Zip-Corvette and they have it for $100, all 3 pieces. Don’t have it in stock right now but that’s the best price I’ve found.

I believe the Scrape Armor protects the OEM spoiler from damage. Not sure but maybe it replaces it also. But it does have a lifetime guarantee.

Sorry to hear that you have an old problem with the vibration, one thought I have is to go to GM Customer Service complaints write, email or tweet, and tell them what you told us. tell them everything, all the details, dealership name the manager name, time date, and see what they would like you to do about this matter. I think I would start there for now. The fact this happened under warranty might carry this problem. It sounds as if a few parts that have worn need to be replaced. Good luck raise hell.
