Vibration around 2000 RPM and OEM parts
Thanks, I'll check Mid America out. I only need the drivers side, the others are OK, that one grabbed the obstacle and bent. I bent it back for now, but don't really like leaving it that way. It has a crease in it where it bent.
Its something that you don`t hear about much, but like your case the transmission goes bad that happens sometimes, my brother bought a new 1979 C-3 and after 2000 miles it spun a main bearing, it happens. but the fact you had repairs done under warranty, and the dealer messed it up, the issue you you have now would go back on the dealer, and I`m sure they will argue about it, they alway`s do. GM could make the dealer eat the repairs because it was not done correctly. Worth checking into. My farther inlaw was a warranty administrator in a chevy dealership`s for about 20 years he would tell story`s and some secrets. I`m thinking check into it it might be worth it.
Thanks Everyone for the feedback and ideas to find parts. thomas77, I attempted to navigate through GM's system to find the complaint division. I clicked on several links that said complaints division or complaint form, but none took me to a place I could enter a complaint. It was a rabbit hole. I could find many places to find specs and look for a new vehicle to buy, but to get one fixed, not so much. I finally went to service and started a chat. After about 45 minutes I finally got a case number from her. I first need to take it to a GM service center and have it diagnosed on my dime. Then get a quote and submit that quote back into the chat system where a person from GM will evaluate it and decide if GM will help with the repair. I'm not holding my breath. She also suggested that I take it back to the servicing dealer that worked on the problem last, which would be great, something I'd have done 6 months ago if I didn't live 16 hours from them. They also were sold and the new company isn't very friendly. Don't suspect they would go good for their own service glitch, but a different owners, is not in the cards I suspect. It wasn't a great experience, but at least it is started and like we discussed earlier, you don't get anything if you don't ask. My car is due a service anyway in a couple weeks, so I'll do both at the same time. My suspicion is that the driveshaft connects to the transmission with a spline and when it came loose from the transmission swap, they either didn't see that the splines were damaged or ignored it and just torqued the bolts. With the splines not tightly fitting, they eventually started to move again and eventually caused the bolts to loosen again.
This is my second vette. The first a C6 that I purchased new had electrical problems. It wasn't terrible, but I had to reset the car a couple times to get it to wake back up. Mostly seat position wouldn't work, had issues with the computer once, and lights once. Now this one has mechanical issues, maybe dealer inflicted, but it appears to have them. Drivers seat on this one doesn't always park properly, but I see that is very minor. It seems to me that the Vette is Chevy's signature car, and they really would do a better job of QC on it. Just me thinking here.....
Again, thanks everyone. Much appreciated.

Old dealership gone, that doesen`t help. GM service would still have records. I don`t know the makeup on your car but it sounds like worn splines that won`t let the bolts stay tight. You can have a dealer look at and see what they will do,. or there is an option to take it to a good driveline shop and have them look at it, they might be able to repair what you have, or replace the splines, There must be an easy way to fix this.
thomas77, sounds like you suspect the same as I do. I think when it came loose the first time it had to have worn the splines. I don't suspect they will be god awful expensive, but better than a safety issue of it coming loose completely or the splines wearing more. Neither a good situation with a car with this horsepower and a driveshaft turning at engine RPM.
I'm definitely going to tell the service manager I want to see it when it's apart for inspection. I don't trust anyone anymore and I was a helicopter mechanic in the military and am very familiar with splines on aircraft tail rotor drive shafts. I think we had at least 6 splines on the Huey. These wouldn't have a collar over them I don't think like a helicopter, but we'll see. If they don't want me in their shop, I'll find a shop that will.
Thanks again.
