Default Retirement Gift

I'm researching to buy a used C7 or C8 within the next year or two as a retirement gift to myself. Any issues (model year, engine, recalls, electronics, etc.) that i should look out for?

Welcome to the forum. It was reported that some of the early versions of the eight-speed automatic in the '15 and '16 models had some hard shifts, shuddering, and other drivability issues. It's recommended that you subject any C7 but especially those two to a thorough test drive while paying special attention to the transmissions functionality. Also you should ask for service records which should include any TSBs or warning work that was performed.

I have a 2023 C8 HTC and haven't had any problems so far in about 4500 miles. I've heard there have been some reported problems with the new DCT transmission but they have been very few.

I always recommend for those looking for a Corvette that if they have time, get a subscription to the Corvette Magazine. They have a good question and answer section in each publication and also publish a Buyer's Guide annually since 2020. And periodically they publish the summation of questions and answers.

If you have a local Corvette club then you could ask one of their members for any information that they may have. Good luck in your search and let us know what you come up with.
