Default 1975 Vette No booster push rod

I have been having issues with my 1975 Vette brakes for awhile now. It stops but never locks up. I replaced the master cylinder and still soft. I read the Booster Rod may need adjustment but when I took the Master Cylinder off again, there is no booster rod. It looks like a cylinder come out of the booster and engages the master cylinder. There is a hole in the cylinder where it looks like a booster rods should go. Any thought as to if there was a time where a rod was not used. I pilled it out a little and attached a photo of what it looks like.

The cylinder in the middle is what come out when i push on the brake pedal. there is no Booster Rod
