4 bolt main LS4
I am still looking for other owners of original numbers matching 1973 LS4 454's. I own one of several cars that left the factory with a 3999289 4 bolt main cap LS4, and according to Chevy... the only iron block 454 to be a 4 bolt was the LS6. With the help of the NCRS I have been able to document this as an original, but we need to know how many more there are. Alan Colvin has stated that 30 or so race destined blocks went unaccounted for in 1972 and ended up in 3 other model production cars besides the Corvette. If you ever had one, or have heard of one... please let me know.
Thanks

RE: 4 bolt main LS4
Can't help much. I did hear somewhere in the past about "a couple of dozen" race blocks were used as production to get rid of them in late 72 (story I dimly recall is they were just sitting there unused with Chevy no mostly out of racing, not "gone missing," and someone said let's not let them go to waste.
Anyway, I saw an ad in Hemmings or Barret jackson for a red Chevelle 454 SS that was supposed to be a FACTORY 4-bult main LS4, advertised as "one of less than a dozen," this was several years ago and I just remember it is passing - price was in the low $100s and I have no idea what happened to it.

RE: 4 bolt main LS4
Lee,
Thanks for the input. This is an odd one, but I do have an in with GM, and he is trying to help sort this out. Maybe it is just the luck of the draw, but when I get some time, I'm going to drop the tank and get the destination code. Maybe that dealer might have some records that will help.
Thanks again,
Wedge
