69, 4 speed stick trans

My key would not come out of the steering column. I noticed on the top driver side of trans, that the cable was buckeled to move the lever on the steering column. I went to where the cable reaches steering colum and tried to piviot arm on column up. It seemed to be locked up, but i could pull it down, but it must need to go up farther, in order to get key out?? Or maybe something is wrong with the ingintion/key switch all together. Has this happened to anyone else??? any suggesttions would be apprecitated!

I think I have it fixed now. I disconnected the cable at the steering column, and got the lever to continue up. Got key out, and it has to be a bad lockout cable. Thanks to everyone that looked at my problem!
