Default Brake bleeder valves

Has anyone tried those caliper "speed bleeder valves" that let you bleed the brakes by yourself? They have a valve in them that stops the air from coming back in when you pump the brakes to bleed them. Sounds great but wonder if they really work. j

Several versions of "one man brake bleeding" kits out there. speed bleeder valves are way easy, and work very well. They can be a bit messy if you aren't careful though. I have tried one kit with a similar valve hooked up to a little tube with a resevoir bottle attached...

bill.

Hi alive69, no I never tried them. According to the ad they are the best thing ever invented. I had to ask myself-how often do I bleed the brakes? Once every year or two?Last time I changed a caliper I pumped up the brake and put a stick between the pedal and the floor, that worked for me. I would say to do a proper brake bleed, spend a little more money and get a pressure bleeder. PG

Speed bleeder update: I bought em, installed em, used a 3/16" i.d. clear plastic hose on the bleeders to save the fluid ( plus you can see whats happening as you pump the brake pedal ), and a used, clear windex bottle to catch the fluid pumped out. Worked like it says itwould and Isaved a lot of time, brake fluid and mess clean up! I recommend them highly. j
