Dash Lights 85 vette

Default Dash Lights 85 vette

Dash lights and head lights started flickering Voltage reading its overcharging. Alternator tested good bought a new optima battery and still doing it. Need answers. Or Where else to check I dont want to have to rip off dash but think i may have to..

here's agood place to start looking...under the hood on the drivers side, between the firewall and the end of the cylinder head. There are several ground wiresbolted to the end of the head, I'm not sure, but you may find the chassis ground there too. Make sure they're tight. Let us know what you find.

Go ahead - buy another optima. Take the safety off of the Fully Automatic Assault Wallet [sm=shootshoot.gif][sm=violent053.gif]and why not get another alternator too!

Seriously tho', how come you bought a new battery?

What do you mean by 'overcharging' too?

Have you gotten a read from the field terminal on the alternator? That's the first thing ya' gotta' do.

I agree with rshiver, sounds like a grounding issue. Check connections at the starter/solinoid too. I believe that's where your accessory power comes from. It's a common power distribution point. I would think that you can use a meter to check any connections and not have to tear into your dash.Check out your light switch too.
