Spark Plug info
I posted this on the C4 section a couple weeks ago, but thought I would ask here too.
A car nut/tinkerer I work with told me about a "new" spark plug. The Pulse Plug, it is supposed to have soome circuitry in the body of it that boosts the spark by 20,000 times but cuts the duration down to a couple milli-seconds. They are supposed to improve fuel economy, increase HP & torque by up to 10%!!!
The plugs cost about $ 30.00 each!!! I told him I didn't think they would do all the BS the ad said. Especially in my '90 vette (L-98)
Has anyone heard of these things or had anything to do with them???
Thanks & keep the wave alive

RE: Spark Plug info
I have heard of these but have not tried them. They promise more than they could possibly deliver, but a nice big spark is good to get the fuel mixture going. Of course, if the fuel is already burning, and the engine is not misfiring they probably will not do a lot. I have seen lots of $10 and $20 dollar spark plugs so I guess the $30 plugs are the next level. I am not ready to but them, but if you do, by all means let us know how they work out. I would be concerned about the heat range, if they offer a one size fits all spark plug I would avoid them as there is some possibility it could lead to engine damage, but you probably would hear the spark knock first.
BTW, I remember when I was a teenager you could buy spark plugs on sale at K Mart for about 88 cents each, of course you would have to pay another 3 bucks or so for the points and condenser kit!

RE: Spark Plug info
I've never bought into the big money claims, $2.00 - $3.00 AC-delco plugs will be lighting the fire just fine in my new motor. I remember in the late sixties/early seventies when Kawasaki specified a surface gap plug in their three cylinder street bikes, no gap to adjust. I saw allot of those plugs in the trash and everyone went back to normal NGK plugs.
