Default Throttle Positioning Sensor

On my 1994 I pulled the old TPS off to replace it and I found a piece of foam behind it. This foam looks like it is supposed to be there because it is perfectly cut but I can't find anywhere that tells me about this foam. My question is should I put it back in or leave it out? The foam is hard and not flexible any longer so I'm assuming that it's been there since 1994. Any suggestionls?

I would vote to leave it there, Not sure what it's for, maybe insulation or isolation of some type.

Well here is a good one for everyone. I replaced the TPS on my 94 and I also have all of the manuals for the car. Well low and behold the Chevrolet dealer nor does Snap On have the adapter to plug into my 94 to adjust the TPS. Does anyone have a suggestion on what to do? I was told that Snap On had the adapter for the OBD II to go to the OBD I. Even though the one on the Vette looks like a OBD II it isn't. I need help please!!!

I can not find an adaptor to go from the OBD II to the OBD I on my Vette. If anyone would send me their cell number I'll send them a picture of the OBD I on my Vette. I can't believe that GM had this female plug just on the 94 Vette's. I'm at a total loss!! Help!!!!!
