Vette engine I.D. codes
I found in a local junkyard, a racecar of sorts, with what appears to be an earlyCorvette V-8 engine. The car itself looks to be homemade, however I have seen similar ones like it before. The front looks like a bug-eyed Austin-Healy Sprite, its a open cockpit car, with a teardrop style rear. The tires have bicycle type fenders over them. I lifted the hood off, and saw an aluminum valve cover with Corvette on it,and cooling type fins also.It looks similar to a friends 67 Vette valve cover. The motorhas an old AC Delco generator/alternator on it, and the engine looked complete minus one valve cover, and the carb. It was bolted to a stick shift trans. I would like to find out if this motor is anything worth saving, and dont know where to find the codesto see what it actually is. The motor is orange of course. Also would like to know where the codes are on the heads. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Vette engine I.D. codes
Welcome to CF!
If the intake man has the oil filler tube, you can just about bet it's a '60s engine. Any engine is worth saving, as long as it doesn't have a hole blown through the block. You could be lookin' at a 4 bolt small block, which is def a keeper.I don't have the other info you're lookin' for, but someone here will come to your aid.
